ABOUT ME

Kourtney Carter, PhD, LCSW, CCS
 
Dr. Carter grew up in rural North Carolina, with minimal access to health care and communal resources. She is passionate about increasing health equity in the LGBTQ+ community, rural communities, and communities of color, through program development, youth enrichment, and social advocacy. Her goal is to normalize the need for mental health services, by ensuring individuals are able to seek care from therapists and providers who align with their beliefs; and shared experiences.
She obtained her PhD with honors, a Masters degree in social work with a concentration in mental health, and a Bachelors degree in Clinical Psychology. Dr. Carter is also a certified clinical supervisor and completes individual supervision for masters prepared therapist who are working towards clinical licensure. ​
Dr. Carter is a licensed therapist with experience in Depression, Anxiety, LGBTQ++, Goal planning, Geriatric Mental Health, Adjustment Disorder, Grief counseling, EAP, and Trauma using evidenced-based models. Dr. Carter is licensed to practice in NC, GA, MA, CA, and MT.
